Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate (MAP) is a derivative of Ascorbic acid, also known as vitamin C. Upon topical application, MAP is converted into Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) as it crosses the epidermis.

Magnesium Ascorbyl Phosphate(MAP), together with Sodium Ascorbyl Phosphate (SAP) has been shown to overcome many of the problems associated with Ascorbic acid in the delivery of these benefits to the skin.

MAP has also proven to be an effective skin antioxidant inhibiting the action of free radicals from skin exposure to UV radiation2. It was again demonstrated that MAP effectively passed through the skin and was converted to ascorbic acid to deliver skin benefits for which it is well known.
